Boren has over 13 years' experience in the field of administration and finance. Before joining Oxfam in 2017, she worked for seven years as an accountant and administrator with the Department of Media and Communications at the Royal University of Phnom Penh. She also worked as administration and finance manager and grant manager with an NGO.
Active Involvement with the Voice Project Team
"Oxfam provides me opportunities to get involved with many different programs and project activities, to meet and become familiar with its partners, share my knowledge with them and broaden my own vision," says Boren. Indeed, as the Voice program receives major funding from donors and other projects, she needs to be actively involved with the project team. Recruiting new partners is a critical task. She needs to call for proposals and help to check the proposals based on criteria to determine whether they fit the project objective. Furthermore, she is responsible for monitoring and supporting partner capacity building.
Engaged in Social Issues
Boren appreciates what she has learned from the challenges she had to face and feels proud of the humanitarian work she is involved in with the project teams. "I have learned to adapt to Oxfam's structure. I also have to deal with the government sector. Also, I am able to meet many partners and learn from them and give suggestions to partners to fill the gaps. I work with 10 different countries, which is a great learning opportunity. The Voice project addresses key social issues such as those confronting the LGBT community, vulnerable women, the elderly, children, the disabled and others. It's great to be a part of that," concludes Boren.
