We are pleased to announce that Solinn Lim joins Oxfam in Cambodia as our Country Director on 25 April 2016. She replaces Chris Eijkemans who has moved to take up Oxfam’s Country Director post for the Occupied Palestinian Territory and Israel.
Before joining us in Phnom Penh, Solinn was in Boston, USA as Deputy Regional Director for Asia. She brings a wealth of 17 years of hands-on experience in countries across Asia in areas of community development, environmental conservation and climate change, humanitarian relief and preparedness, civic engagement and governance, and policy and campaign. She holds a BA in Sociology and a MSc. in Environmental Policy from Oxford University.
Addressing to Oxfam staff on her first day in office, Solinn said she was humbled by and grateful for her country team’s vote of confidence, enthusiasm and support.
Oxfam in Cambodia has just completed our country/global restructure and since 1 April 2016 our Cambodia programme is now operating under one single management structure.
As a Cambodian, born and raised through war time, stringent poverty and patriarchal society of Cambodia, Solinn told staff that she is thrilled to take on this role for 2 reasons: "on a personal level, I can give back to Cambodia through a more impactful one Oxfam; and on professional level, I have a privilege of a life time to work alongside all of you, who are smart, competent and hardworking, who share my belief in one Oxfam and its mission."
"This is one of my dream jobs; I know I will strive in this role and more importantly I know we will strive in this together to build a stronger Oxfam Cambodia team that will then contribute to build stronger Cambodian civil society," she added.
She said she is looking forward to strengthen the partnerships with government institutions, private sectors, CSO partners and other emerging actors, as she shared her vision and strategy as well as her first 100-days high level agenda for Oxfam in Cambodia.
