Antoinette Taus named Oxfam Ambassador for Resilience

Wednesday, November 27, 2019

International development organization, Oxfam Pilipinas, has named actress and environmental advocate Antoinette Taus as its ambassador for resilience.

Oxfam Pilipinas recognized Taus’ efforts in fighting climate change, hunger, and poverty. As founder of non-profit organizations CORA (Communities Organized for Resource Allocation) and Planet CORA, Taus successfully led feeding programs and coastal clean-up drives around the country.

She is also known for igniting volunteerism and raising awareness on the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

“It is the right of every human being in this world to be able to live a full, happy, peaceful life, where everyone gets the same benefits and rights. When we fight for the environment and against climate change, truly what we are fighting for are not just issues pertaining to the planet. We are fighting for every single human being, for all the people that we love, and most of all for the generations to come,” the actress said.

Taus will be supporting Oxfam and its local non-government organization partners in raising awareness on environmental issues, climate change, disaster risk reduction, and the needs of people affected by natural disasters and armed conflict.

Last year, Taus showed her solidarity with Yolanda survivors during Oxfam’s Yolanda commemoration activities in Leyte and Eastern Samar.

“Antoinette is truly passionate about ending the injustice of poverty, which is shared value with Oxfam. She uses her influence to spotlight communities in need, particularly those that are disproportionately vulnerable due to climate change impacts and disasters. She is an inspiration to us and we are deeply honored to have her as part of the Oxfam family,” Oxfam Pilipinas Country Director Lot Felizco said.

Oxfam is a global non-profit organization that works in more than 90 countries including the Philippines to address the underlying problems of poverty and inequality.
